Just make learning fun this year and follow his interests.

(I know you didn't ask for my advice but I'm here just in case you need some. Remember, I taught grades 1-12 in a very exclusive academy for boys! ;)Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03749938983638722212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4108476233546749099.post-87185493676024816372010-09-08T07:31:03.354-05:002010-09-08T07:31:03.354-05:00Hi, Jade! This is my first year homeschooling as well, but my school age children are 12 and 9. It felt really overwhelming at first, but everyone in the co-op has been so great! Thanks for sharing yall's first day with us!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12146701200009744595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4108476233546749099.post-77492145953846925162010-09-07T22:10:02.250-05:002010-09-07T22:10:02.250-05:00Sarah - You feel free to comment anytime you want ...Sarah - You feel free to comment anytime you want to! You went to school for this AND have had a lot more experience with kids and teaching kids than I have, so I'll definitely listen to what you have to say. =) I've heard a few of those writing suggestions, and definitely plan to utilize 'em in the future... I just wanted to have written evidence of where we were starting from for our school records so I tortured him by making him sit and write on the paper. Haha!Jade Clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14797580035245351198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4108476233546749099.post-10339301927498880652010-09-07T21:57:45.105-05:002010-09-07T21:57:45.105-05:00Love it! He IS so smart! :-)

Just some ideas for writing letters & numbers (which you probably already know, but...) - you can always have him write them with his finger by spreading out flour/sugar on a cookie sheet, go to the park and write them in the sand, write them in shaving cream in the bathtub, write them with chalk on the sidewalk, etc.! Pencil and paper is good, but for a 4 yr. old boy it's also important to make things more tactile and physically involved. Again, I know you know this stuff... it's just hard for me not to comment! Ha.

Oh. I have some random supplies and stuff that I can give you to borrow, too. It may be something different and exciting . . . and free since you won't have to buy it! ;-)Sarahhttp://www.whatsarahsaid.comnoreply@blogger.com
