- Daily devo
- We read the book and learned the song from Home On The Earth, talked about what the Earth is made of (rock, water, air).
Singing along. |
- Had Preston write the names of the first four planets on the dry erase board, sounding them out and making sure he spelled them correctly.
Sounding them out. |
- We also explored the Time4Learning website that I'll be doing a review on soon. Did some math and language arts lessons there, but mostly just checked out the site and learned how to use it.
Tuesday:
- Had Preston write the last four planets on the dry erase board, sounded them out and making sure he spelled them correctly.
- He colored in pictures of the planets and we arranged them, in order, on a poster.
Coloring the Sun. |
Final product. Our solar system. |
- Worked on the Time4Learning site some more. We discovered a section on the planets so he did that lesson - and aced it! Also some matching and differences problems.
Wednesday:
- Over breakfast, I explained what the Season of Lent was all about... how we make a sacrifice by giving up something, and in place of that something we spend more time or reflect more on God. I told him you can also add something, instead of give it up. I know it was a bit over his head, but he seemed to get the gist of it. Instead of asking him to give up something, we're going to take these next few weeks and talk about Godly Character Traits. I ran across a cute set of printables a while back, am excited to finally use them. We'll take a character trait a day, define and discuss it and provide real-life examples of it. Today's was "Orderly."
- We read the first half of You're Aboard Spaceship Earth, we talked about the water cycle a little bit.
- Then we spent a good chunk of the morning rearranging the homeschool corner of the kitchen. Callen has been pulling everything down and spreading it around nearly ever day so something had to be done. Hopefully this set up will be slightly more toddler-proof. Everything is up a little higher, but still not completely out of reach... but maybe it'll be less inviting to the little booger!
Thursday:
- Daily devo, then Character Trait: "Attentive!"
He wrote "Attention!" |
- Read the last half of You're Aboard Spaceship Earth, talking about oxygen.
- As an art project, we created a Very Hungry Caterpillar mobile. Callen's birthday party is on Saturday and that's the theme, so we thought it would be fun to make a decoration for it.
Callen loved it! |
Preston colored this side, I colored the other. |
Friday:
- No school. Preston spent Thursday nite and Friday morning with Grandma Darlene, so no school today.

Don't you love those small white boards? Yours has the handwriting line too, right? We use our little board EVERY day! (I need to get another next year when they're on sale again at Staples.) Best $2 spent! Great projects this week! LOVE the Hungry Caterpillar! (We enjoy Eric Carle!) Stopping by from Weekly Wrap-up!
